Mentorship Outing

Our 1st outing to Marina Barrage for Mentorship 2010! We gathered at Clementi SCS center in the morning before we set off to Marina Barrage! Weather was rather good and most importantly WINDY; as we were going for kite flying!!!

It was definitely a fun and memorable experience for both Mentors and Mentees!

About Us

Clementi Students Care Service (SCS) is a voluntary social work organization founded in 1976. It is registered with the Registry of Societies (ROS) and Commissioner of Charities (COC). We are also affiliated to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) and part-funded by Community Chest. Clementi SCS provides social work and educational psychology services to students and their families so as to allow every student to reach their maximum potential in their teenage years.

Currently, NUS volunteers are involved in these 3 main programs such as:

· Mentorship

· Drop-in-Cafe

Mentorship

Mentorship is a year-long programme where volunteers will be matched 1 to 1 accordingly to a 'mentee' (youth) as we will provide companionship, leadership and establish a good friendship between the 'mentors' (YOU!) and the 'mentees'.

This is the time where volunteers will be role-models to the youths and allow them to feel appreciated and respected as an individual. Our main aim is to let the befriendees learn how to make the right decisions in life and take up responsibilities to shine as a youth adult in times to come.

Time: Every Tuesday (7pm-9pm)

Drop-in-Cafe

A fun-filled place for youths to hang out after school hours. A unique feature that is different from other youths drop in centre is the operation of a café with the sales of food and drinks.

Roles of volunteers:

· Operation of the Café

· Engaging the youths in the different activities (e.g.Pool, Wii, etc)

Time: Every Wednesday and/or Friday (2.30pm-5.30pm)
